Patios that stay level and look right

A good patio is 80 percent what you cannot see. We dig out, put in a proper compacted sub base, lay on a full mortar bed with the right falls and point it properly. That is why ours do not sink, rock or grow weeds through the joints after a couple of winters.

Porcelain patios

Porcelain is what most people in Sheffield are asking for now and for good reason. It does not stain, it does not fade, it will not grow moss and a jet wash brings it up like new. We lay large format porcelain slabs on a primed mortar bed with brushed in resin jointing. The patios in the photos here are all porcelain.

Indian sandstone and natural stone

If you want a warmer, more traditional look, Indian sandstone and limestone give you that riven finish and natural colour variation. We source it from local yards and seal it if you want the colour to hold.

Block paving and paths

Block paved patios, paths and edging in a wide range of colours and patterns. Great for paths, circles and areas that need to tie into an existing driveway.

Every patio job includes

  • Excavation and disposal of the old surface
  • Compacted MOT type 1 sub base
  • Full mortar bed, not spot bedding
  • Correct falls away from the house for drainage
  • Drainage channels where needed
  • Proper jointing and a final clean

Steps, walls and balustrades

We build steps, low retaining walls, raised beds and can fit glass or timber balustrades where there is a drop.

Questions

Patios & Paving FAQs

How much does a patio cost in Sheffield?

A small porcelain patio typically starts in the low thousands, with larger areas and natural stone costing more. It comes down to size, material and how much ground work is needed. Every quote is free, with a clear written quotation setting out the agreed scope and price.

Is porcelain better than Indian stone?

Porcelain is lower maintenance, does not stain and stays looking new. Indian stone is cheaper per square metre and has a natural look. We fit both and will be honest about which suits your garden and budget.

Do you need to remove my old patio first?

Usually yes. Laying new slabs over an old surface is a false economy. We dig out, put in a proper base and start again so it lasts.

How long does a patio take to lay?

A typical patio takes three to five days including ground work. We tell you the timescale before we start.
